Wrestling Classes For Children
Ages 5–8 in Hitchin
Fun-first wrestling classes for our youngest members. Ages 5–8 learn movement, balance, confidence and teamwork in a safe, professional ring environment with UBW coaches.
At ages 5–8, wrestling class is about play with purpose. Sessions are built around games, rolls, animal movements and simple, safe ring basics that develop coordination, body awareness and confidence — the foundations every young athlete needs, whatever sport they end up loving.
Classes run at Square One Gym in Hitchin in a real professional wrestling ring, coached by the UBW team who specialise in working with children. Every session is structured, supervised and scaled to each child's confidence level — some children dive straight in, others take a few weeks to warm up, and both are completely normal.
Parents are welcome to watch. Many of our juniors started as shy five-year-olds and have grown into confident, capable young performers who count down the days to class.

Common Questions
Is wrestling safe for a 5-year-old?
Yes — at this age it's essentially structured play. Children learn to move, fall safely and follow instructions long before anything resembling wrestling moves. Coaches supervise closely at all times.
My child is shy — will they cope?
Very common, and yes. Coaches let shy children join in at their own pace, and the game-based format usually wins them over within a few sessions.
What do they need to wear?
Comfortable sports clothes and clean trainers or bare feet in the ring. No special equipment is needed to start.
