Junior Wrestling Ages 9–12

Junior Wrestling Classes
Ages 9–12 in Hitchin

Structured junior wrestling for ages 9–12: real technique, athletic development and performance skills coached safely by the UBW team at Square One Gym in Hitchin.

By ages 9–12, children are ready for genuine wrestling fundamentals. Classes build on movement basics with proper technique — lock-ups, holds, escapes and safe ring craft — alongside the strength, flexibility and cardio that make young athletes better at everything they do.

Sessions balance discipline with fun. Juniors learn to listen, drill, support their training partners and perform in front of others — skills that show up at school and at home, not just in the ring. Coaches track each child's progression and introduce new skills only when the foundations are solid.

For juniors who fall in love with wrestling, there's a clear pathway: our teen programme at 13, and beyond that the UBW development system that has taken local young wrestlers onto real shows.

Common Questions

Does my child need experience to join?

No — beginners join throughout the year and coaches bring them up to speed with the fundamentals before partner work.

Is this real wrestling or just play?

It's genuine professional wrestling training scaled for juniors: real technique and athletic development, taught safely and progressively.

How does my child move up to the teen class?

At 13, juniors move into the teen programme. Coaches manage the transition so they start with skills and confidence already in place.
