Most gyms tolerate powerlifting. Square One is set up for it. Our strength area includes power racks, competition-style benches, deadlift platforms, calibrated-style plates and bars you can actually load heavy — so you never have to hold back on max-effort days.
Chalk, heavy singles and long rest periods are part of normal training here. If you're working towards your first powerlifting meet, our coaches can help you structure training blocks, refine technique on the three lifts and plan attempt selection. If you simply want to get seriously strong, the same principles apply.

Can I deadlift heavy and use chalk?
Yes. We have dedicated platforms, bumper plates and a chalk-friendly policy. Training heavy is normal here.
Do you offer powerlifting coaching?
Yes — our strength coaches can programme your training blocks, coach technique on the squat, bench and deadlift, and support you through your first competition.
I've never touched a barbell — is that a problem?
Not at all. Learning the lifts with a coach from day one is the fastest and safest way to get strong. We teach complete beginners regularly.
